Making Naked Juice at home (while clothed)!
So I've become a huge fan of Naked Juice, and managed to lose 15 lbs since the end of August just by altering my diet to include a bottle of it for breakfast. However, my wallet is feeling the pinch and I'm looking for a way to make a home-brew version.

The back of the bottle has vague quantities for how much juice is in each bottle, and I've done some estimates, but here's my actual question: how much juice is in an apple?

I know I could just spend an evening in my kitchen with a blender with tasty trial attempts, but if any of you could help me out with my faux-Naked juice quest, that would be fab!

It depends on how big and what variety of apple. Not all apples are suitable for juicing; for example, I'd never juice a Red Delicious. They're not very juicy and not very sweet. Macintosh apples, OTOH, are perfect for it, but a little small.

I don't think I'll actually be juicing the apple, I'm just wondering how much apple juice to add in. Thank you!

I must have misunderstood. Oh well, now you know not to try to juice Red Delicious apples. Good luck!

a pound of fruit usually has about 8 oz of juice in it, so it really depends on how heavy the apple is.

Nice, thank you! I think I may just use apple juice from the store, but this is good to know.

Could you juice everything else & then make up the difference with the apple juice? That's probably what they do, since apple juice is cheaper than anything else they use (except maybe bananas).

Yep, I'm thinking of using apple juice!

Just be aware that store-bought apple juice is clarified to remove all fiber and is much sweeter than juice you'd get out of real apples. I'd recommend ditching the apple juice entirely to optimize calorie for health benefits. Just juice what you want, and if it's too close to solid add a little apple juice or water to liquefy.

just found this
The back of the bottle has vague quantities for how much juice is in each bottle

The website doesn't. Choose your flavor, select "What's Inside" and they practically give you a recipe. Looks like you'll want a multi-vitamin along with it, though; they seem to imply that they add vitamins and minerals.

Rad! That's the stuff that's on the back of the bottle, though now I have access to all Naked Juice recipes. Bwaha! You rule.

It's a fruit smoothie drink, like Odwalla (if you know that brand). Tons of fruit puree/juice and good stuff inside, and very tasty. But 15 pounds?! I need to try this!

Looks like the equivalent of Nudie in Australia. Yummy, but terribly expensive.

I did it by drinking one Naked Juice (either Orange Mango Motion or Peach Magosteen Bliss) for breakfast in the morning, and drinking water when I was hungry. I had a Lean Cuisine for lunch, and worked to eat it slowly, not bolting it down like I usually do. Between the two, it really cut my daily calorie intake for the morning, plus upped my fruits/veggies serving. I then ate a healthy dinner (but it wasn't the end of the world if I splurged on amazing local pizza for dinner!), and I dropped 15 lbs in about 3 months. I had a foot injury around the time I started all of this, so I wasn't active aside from my usual walking around. My foot is back in shape, and I've started hitting the gym (racquetball!) a few times a week; that, coupled with the juice stuff, should keep the weight off, if not bring me down a bit more! :) I feel great!

A whole bottle or a single serving (half bottle)? If that's you in the userpic above, you don't look a bit overweight! I definitely have to try this...

I drink a whole bottle slowly for breakfast - sip on the bus on the way in to work, then drink most of it at my desk during morning e-mail/calendar checking. A whole bottle is about 260 calories, and keeps me totally full until lunchtime.

The pic above is me, and thanks! The pic is a bit older, but I essentially look the same in the face (though with a bit rounder jawline). Most of my weight was on the belly/butt/thighs area.

I did the 'eat juice all day' thing where i blended or juiced various things and sipped on them all day. I felt amazing...

However it rotted my teeth. Like I have never had a cavity before in my life and 6 months of sipping juice for breakfast/lunch I ended up with 3 cavities and half my other teeth on the 'watch' list.

My dentist said not to sip the juice....and if I must eat/drink my amazing juice all day, have water too and sip that after I sip the juice.

Just thought you might want to know...

I don't drink the juice all day, just for breakfast. Because I tend to get snackish when I'm bored (boooo!) I quell that with drinking water, so I think I keep things pretty de-acidy after the breakfast drink. :) But good advice, and I'm especially careful because I have weak enamel on my teeth and am cavity prone.

Also drink through a straw. This will cut down on the amount of juice that 'coats' your teeth after each sip/drink. And of course keep sipping the water as well to wash away the sugars on your teeth.

Go you!

I like the Naked juices but I've found that they're almost to thick for me. Blech. Do you have any recommendations that aren't smoothie consistency? :P

Yeah I want to try it too! Do you notice that it helps you wake up at all in the morning? That may be a stupid question but I'm practically dead in the morning and I'm looking for something to replace coffee.

I drink the orange mango motion drink, and it's labeled as "energize" and has guarana in it, which really gives me a boost while I drink it. I used to be a massive caffeine junkie (mostly pop, though), and guarana has been a good substitute. Also, the very cold juice kind of peps me up in the morning. Hot drinks make me feel cozy and sleepy, especially in the wintertime!
